Message from the Foundation Board
Since our inception in 1988, the Boone County Health Center Foundation’s purpose has been “To seek, receive and administer donations and gifts which support health care offered to the service area by the Boone County Health Center and medical clinics”. Our role as beneficiary to the Health Center has grown over the years and we now have eight members that serve as ambassadors for their local communities.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our patrons who supported the BCHC Foundation in 2009. Our Big Red Gala held in March of 2009 raised over $17,000. We also hosted a golf tournament in Fullerton and Albion this past summer profiting $6,000. The proceeds were used to purchase a digital mammography unit for our radiology department. The project concluded by raising nearly $93,000 through Foundation fundraising events and grants.
To keep pace with the Health Centers increasing demands of private, patient oriented rooms, the Foundation launched Project Care and Comfort in September of 2009. We have set a goal to raise $40,000 to help equip and bring comfort to the hospitals new special care room as well as an updated IV treatment room. With the building project in full swing, our immediate focus here at the foundation office is the completion of this project. Any money received by the Foundation eases the burden of the BCHC.
Events on the calendar for this year include our 2nd Husker Senior Hoops event on Friday April 12, 2010. We will also be hosting our annual Albion golf tournament on Saturday July 17, 2010. Cottonwood Greens in Spalding will be the location of our other golf tournament on Sunday August 15, 2010. The day includes 18 holes of golf, continental breakfast, lunch, flight prizes and a variety of great flag prizes for both the “expert” and “novice” golfers. If you haven’t participated in one of our tournaments, please consider signing up.
The Boone County Health Center and Foundation continue to benefit from the generosity and support of so many in our service area. Community support along with quality, caring employees and providers make it possible to maintain outstanding healthcare service close to home for many years to come.
