Dwight Johnson, Selected for 2009 Caring Kind Award
Few people may actually know this years’ Caring Kind recipient or even his name but everyone who has step foot on the Health Center’s campus knows the work that he does. He’s a true behind the scene guy that arrives early to clear the parking lot of snow, cleans off patient’s car windows during bad weather, mows, sweeps and maintains the grounds at the Health Center. He’s quiet, never complains and yet his work does not go unnoticed by hospital staff and patients alike. Those are just a few of the descriptions given by staff of Dwight Johnson, this year’s Caring Kind recipient at the Boone County Health Center.
Dwight has been at the hospital for close to ten years and during his tenure, he has not only maintained the growing hospital grounds but he always finds time to do small things at the hospital that make a coworkers’ or patient’s day easier. Many times he will help patients into their cars or clean their car windows. He often greets staff with a friendly “howdy” and continues on his work schedule. For these reasons, his coworkers honored Dwight as the Caring Kind employee during National Hospital Week.
Recognized as the Department of the Year was the Housekeeping Department. This department received this honor based on the excellent job they do in cleaning and maintaining the inside of the hospital. “From the surgical suite to individual patient rooms to all of the lobbies, clinics and waiting areas, this department is always working and doing a great job. Our hospital and clinics are some of the cleanest in the state and we appreciate it, “ said Cindy Lesiak, VP of Patient Services. Members of the Housekeeping staff are Larry Milburn, supervisor; Ruth Kerkman, Peg Starman; Anita Krohn; Sheila Grape; Mary Ann Borer; Deb Howell; Tim Casper; Deana Lilja; Susan Schmeits; Connie Henn; Francene Schneider; Jane Olson and Karen Anderson.
During the Thursday ceremony, Dr. Mark Palmer, Chairman of the hospital’s trustees and Vic Lee, President and CEO of the Health Center recognized the following employees for their years of service to the hospital: 5 years: Patricia Carpenter; Audrey Fangman; Theresa Formanek; Sheila Grape; Bonnie Kosch; Judy Petsche; Michelle Reicks; Vicki Rother; Francene Schneider; Janelle Tisthammer; Ann Weeder; Larry Zoucha; 10 years: Jennifer Beierman; Holly Carraher; Lisa Classen; Traci Maddux; Cynthia Oberhauser; Diann Olson; 15 years: Nancy Haase; Patricia Kolm; Cindy Leifeld; Adolph Liss; Dr. John Mazour; Patty Meyer; Dede Roberts; Amy Zaruba; 20 years: Michelle Pelster; 25 years: Patricia Zwiener and 35 years: Sharon Kunzman.
