For the average onlooker passing by the hospital’s building project, things seem to be inching along.  But looks can be deceiving!  A majority of major infrastructure work, often unseen by the public, is taking shape.  As long as the weather holds, the project will continue with this type of crucial work taking shape.  During the next two weeks through the end of September and the first week of October, the foundation walls will be waterproofed; underground electrical and plumbing put into place; preparation, framing and the first course of concrete poured for the elevator pit and work will begin to pour the slab for the new basement.

This information was provided by Josh Probasco, Project Superintendent, Beckenhauer Construction.

Construction Update – What’s been happening during the first weeks of September.

The pace of work on the addition has picked up as the weather has been more cooperative.

The footings and rebar work is ongoing and the basement floor is scheduled to be poured by the middle of September.  This would put the project about 10 days ahead of schedule – always great news for a construction project!

The target date to have both the walls and roof on the new addition is still the first week of November 2009.  It’s important to meet this target date so the structure is enclosed and the construction crews are out of the weather!

Sixth Street southbound reopened the week of September 7th and we appreciate the patience of all Sixth Street residences.
